If you have a history of hip (or back pain for that matter in my opinion), and are looking to improve the strength of your hips, give these exercises a look. This is from a very recent research study in the Orthopedic Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association. Some exercises were found to do a better job than others in activating the correct muscles. I threw in the comment about back pain, because we often find that those with back pain have hip strength deficiencies. So these exercises often help with back pain as well when strength/stability is an issue. And as always, if you’re having significant and/or recurring problems, have a PT you trust evaluate you to determine what is best for YOU.
