If you ask me I would also add deadlifts to the list of exercises mentioned here in this New York Times article. In fact it would be at the top of the list along with squats and lunges. And if you’re unsure about doing these exercises because of prior issues you may have, whether it’s back, hip, knee problems, prior surgery – go see a good Physical Therapist you trust before starting.
